Sleep Apnea & Weight Loss Program

Medical Weight Loss Program for Sleep Apnea (OSA) Treatment

A Modern Approach to Medical Weight Loss and Metabolic Support

A Modern Approach to Medical Weight Loss and Metabolic Support

Our program may include once-weekly GLP-1/GIP medications, to support weight management and improve outcomes for individuals living with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

For many individuals, excess weight and metabolic imbalance can contribute to airway collapse during sleep, making obstructive sleep apnea more difficult to manage. Even modest, sustainable weight reduction may help improve:

  • Sleep quality

  • Daytime energy

  • Snoring and breathing interruptions during sleep

  • Overall metabolic health

At Resolve Sleep Health, medication is never used in isolation. Our program combines:

  • Nurse Practitioner-led medical care

  • Registered Dietitian support

  • Sleep assessment and testing

  • Ongoing monitoring and treatment adjustments

This integrated approach is designed to support long-term success — not just short-term weight loss.

How Obstructive Sleep Apnea & Metabolic Health Are Connected

For some people, weight and metabolic health can contribute to upper airway partial or full collapse during sleep. Excess weight and metabolic imbalance can increase pressure on the upper airway, making obstructive sleep apnea harder to manage – even with treatment.

GLP-1 medications may help by:

  1. Supporting better energy and sleep quality over time

  2. Supporting gradual, sustainable weight reduction

  3. Improving appetite regulation and cravings

Important to know:

GLP-1 therapy is not a replacement for CPAP, but may help:

  1. Reduce symptom severity

  2. Improve CPAP comfort or tolerance

  3. Support long-term sleep health

How the Sleep & Metabolic Program Works at Resolve Sleep

From your first consultation to ongoing support, our clinical team guides you every step of the way.

Meet virtually with a Nurse Practitioner to review:

  • Your sleep history and prior sleep studies (or arrange testing if you haven’t had one)
  • Medical background and symptoms
  • CPAP tolerance or challenges

Based on your results, your plan may include:

  • CPAP optimization
  • Oral appliance or positional therapy referrals
  • GLP-1 medication if clinically appropriate

If prescribed, treatment starts at a low dose and adjusted gradually based on:

  • Tolerability
  • Energy and daytime alertness
  • Sleep quality

Repeat sleep testing may be used to assess:

  • AHI changes
  • Oxygen levels
  • Symptom improvement

Frequently Asked Questions

No. CPAP remains firstline treatment for moderate to severe OSA. GLP1 therapy is used as an adjunctive treatment to improve outcomes and tolerance, not eliminate evidence-based therapy without reassessment.

If you’ve completed a Home Sleep Apnea Test or an in-lab study (Level 1), we accept those results. A repeat home sleep apnea test is only performed later to measure progress.

The only GLP-1 treatment approved for weight management in those with moderate to severe obstructive sleep apnea is Tirzepatide (Zepbound).

The program itself is private-pay. Medication coverage depends on your insurance plan.  It is recommended you contact your insurer or review the drug coverage in your plan through your insurer’s online portal (if applicable).

Weight loss varies. Our goal is improvement in sleep apnea severity and metabolic health, not rapid or extreme weight reduction.
